Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the Divyagyan mobile application ("App") and the website at divyagyan.app (together, the "Service") collect, use, and protect information. Divyagyan is an independent project maintained by a private developer ("we," "our," or "us"); it is not, at this time, operated by a registered company.

By using the Service you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Questions can be sent to the contact address in the last section.

2. Information Associated With Your Account

Divyagyan uses accounts so your experience stays consistent and your progress is not lost. When you use the Service with an account, the following is associated with that account and stored on our servers (through Google Firebase):

• Account & sign-in details: managed through Google Firebase Authentication. Depending on the sign-in method you choose, this may include an email address or a third-party sign-in identifier.
• Your learning data: reading progress, study history, streaks, reflection stats, and in-app preferences.
• Community contributions you choose to submit (described in Section 4).

Storing this data with your account lets it stay available to you across sessions and devices, rather than being tied to a single device.

3. Content Cached on Your Device

To let you keep reading when you are offline or have a poor connection, the App stores a local copy (a cache) of scriptures, media, and pages you open or download. This on-device cache is a convenience copy of content and can be cleared at any time by removing the App or clearing its data. It does not replace your account data, which remains stored with your account.

4. Data Used by Specific Features

Some features send information to third-party services so the feature can work:

• Community map contributions: If you submit temple information, wait-time reports, safety notes, or similar telemetry, that content is stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) so it can be shared with other users. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in your contributions.
• Location: With your permission, the App uses your device location to calculate local timings (such as sunrise, sunset, and Brahma Muhurat) and to show nearby historical temples. We do not build a history of your movements. You can deny or revoke location access in your device settings and enter a city manually instead.
• AI companion (Guide Gyan): Questions you send to the AI companion are transmitted to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. Please avoid including personal or identifying details in these prompts.
• Media streaming: Video and scripture media are delivered through Bunny.net's content delivery network, which may process standard connection metadata (such as your IP address) to serve the media, consistent with normal web-server operation.
• Website analytics: Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site. It sets cookies on your browser and collects standard usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, referring site, and browser and device type. This is used only in aggregate to improve the site, and is not linked to your Divyagyan account. You can opt out using Google's browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.

5. How We Use Information

We use the information described above only to operate and improve the Service: to provide the features you request, to save and sync your progress, to keep community contributions accurate and safe, to maintain accounts, and to protect against misuse, fraud, and abuse. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on the following third-party processors, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase (authentication and Cloud Firestore database).
• Google Gemini API (AI companion responses).
• Google Analytics (website usage measurement).
• Bunny.net (media content delivery).
• OpenStreetMap (map tiles and geographic data).

We encourage you to review these providers' privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. The on-device cache remains until you clear it or remove the App. You may request deletion of your account and associated data as described below; some community contributions may remain in anonymized form so the shared map stays usable.

8. Your Choices & Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. You can:

• Control location and other permissions through your device settings.
• Clear the on-device cache at any time.
• Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data by emailing us at the address below.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to remove it.

10. Security & International Processing

We rely on reputable providers (such as Google Firebase and Bunny.net) that maintain industry-standard security measures. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because these providers operate globally, information you submit may be processed in countries other than your own.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above. Significant changes may be highlighted within the App. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
